People Thought Matt Barnes Would Be Salty and In His Feelings About Derek and Gloria's Engagement
Matt Barnes has got nothing but love for his ex-wife, Gloria Govan, and her new fiancée, Derek Fisher.
On Tuesday, TMZ Sports revealed Govan and Fisher got engaged during a small family gathering at their home in Los Angeles on April 7.
Fisher popped the big question in a romantic setting decorated with candles and flowers.
After the engagement was first announced, many people assumed this would reignite the beef between Barnes and Fisher
Govan and Barnes used to be married, and when she got together with Fisher in 2015, it caused from tension between the former teammates.
However, Barnes has since cleared the air and said the two are cool for the good of his children.
However, the former Golden State Warrior quickly dispelled any rumors of negativity with a congratulatory post
Barnes shared a statement on Instagram with the caption, "You guys want this to be an issue, it’s not!"
Barnes' statement read:
"I have two beautiful boys from my ex we are both focussing [sic] on co-parenting & providing the best atmosphere & childhood for them! They love him, so I love it.
"Despite not seeing eye to eye initially w Derek he & I are on the same page & communicate weekly about Isaiah and Carter.
"With that being said congrats on the engagement!"
Many people, including Snoop Dogg and Chris Webber, applauded Barnes for the mature message
