Cicely Tyson will be hitting the big screen with Tyler Perry once again in the upcoming cop thriller Alex Cross. In this film adaptation of a novel focusing on the brainy Black detective, the legendary actress plays the mom of Alex Cross (Perry), who hunts down a killer trying to tear his family apart.

BET.com sat down with the icon who offered her thoughts on working with Perry, her note-worthy Oscar-nomination for the film Sounder and barriers African-Americans still face in Hollywood.
