The LaMarcus Aldridge Free Agency Tour Is Ready to Begin
Let the courting begin.
Shortly after 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, LaMarcus Aldridge will officially have meetings with the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets to kick off his 2015 free agency tour.
According to ESPN, Aldridge will also meet with the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors on Wednesday and with the New York Knicks on Thursday. A source also told ESPN that the power forward remaining with the Portland Trail Blazers is "very unlikely."
Sources told ESPN that Aldridge has been seriously — and recently — thinking about making the jump to the Lakers. Carmelo Anthony has reportedly already called Aldridge, while San Antonio's pitch to the All-Star power forward is expected to include Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.
With Aldridge being a Texas native, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, in particular, all like their chances to lure one of the best big men in the league as well.
Aldridge, who will turn 30 next month, has spent all nine of his NBA seasons playing for the Trail Blazers. The four-time All-Star averaged 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game last season.
