Ty Lawson Pleads Guilty in DUI Case

Rockets point guard faces up to 180 days in jail.

The Houston Rockets could be without their point guard, soon.

TMZ Sports reported Thursday that Ty Lawson pled guilty to charges, stemming from his January DUI arrest in Denver, when he was then playing for the Nuggets. Lawson pled guilty to driving while impaired and failing to keep his vehicle in a single lane.

The longtime NBA point guard now faces up to 180 days in jail with his sentencing for that incident scheduled for January, right in the middle of the Rockets' season.

After police pulled him over during that January incident, they reportedly smelled alcohol and noted his slurred speech. Lawson then failed his sobriety test, leading to his arrest.

Sadly, he didn't learn his lesson, having been arrested for his second DUI in July. Shortly after announcing that he was enrolling in rehab, Lawson was signed by the Rockets. TMZ reports that Lawson is scheduled to appear in court for that arrest next week.

Lawson, 28, has been averaging 8.3 points and 5.3 assists per game this season.
