Olympic Champion Simone Biles Marries: "Officially Owens"
Simone Biles and NFL player Jonathan Owens have tied the knot. The 26-year-old gymnast and her new husband shared the news on Instagram. Biles wrote, "I do," adding, "Officially Owens." While Owens wrote on Twitter, "My person, forever." According to MSN, he also shared a black-and-white photo of their hands intertwined as the officiant fills out what appears to be a marriage certificate.
The couple went public with their relationship in early 2020 just prior to the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and in an interview with Texas Monthly in 2021, Owens said, “It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off and she couldn’t do anything,” he said. “So we used it to get to know each other—really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger. Now I’m so thankful.”
They announced their engagement in February 2022.
It is unclear where the ceremony was held or who was in attendance, but the pictures on Instagram show a radiant Biles in a four-tiered wedding dress. The official IG page of the Olympics even wished her congratulations, writing, "this makes us smile."
Biles has seven Olympic medals and is tied with Shannon Miller for the most Olympic medals won by an American gymnast and is the ninth-most awarded overall. Having won 25 World Championship medals, she is the most decorated gymnast in the history of the Gymnastics World Championships and is considered by many sources to be the greatest gymnast of all time.
