Philly Student Scores Perfect SAT Score

Philly student scores perfect SAT score. Cameron Clarke achieved a 2400 on his second attempt at the standardized test.

We all remember how tough the SATs were and it's with that wisdom that we commend Germantown Academy senior Cameron Clarke for scoring a perfect 2400 on the SAT—doing what only 360 out of 1.66 million test-takers nationwide were able to do this year.

The first time Clarke took the exam he scored an impressive 2190, but decided to have another go at the nearly four-hour-long test.

"I put in a lot of work," the 18-year-old told the Philadelphia Daily News. "I took a prep class with some of my friends, and I did a lot of practice tests from a book. But that only prepares you so much. The difference between getting, like, a 2400 and a couple of points lower is just focus."

Clarke was a McNeil Patriot Scholar Award-winner for the 2012-13 school year and earlier in the year was named a semifinalist in both the 2013 National Merit Scholarship and 2013 National Achievement Scholarship competitions. The gifted student, who writes for his school paper, is a senator in his school's student government, ran cross country, tutors other students, is a member of the math club and is a principal cellist for the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, dreams of attending Princeton University.
