R&B Singer Sammie’s Mother Charged With Murder Of Florida Woman
Angila Baxter, the mother of R&B star Sammie, has reportedly been charged in the shooting death of a 27-year-old Florida woman.
According to news station WOFL, Baxter was witnessed shooting at random cars and screaming expletives while driving down the street where the tragic incident occurred on January 12. Nekaybaw Collier, 27, was inside one of the vehicles, stuck multiple times, and found unresponsive. The injured wife and mother was pronounced dead after being rushed to a local hospital.
An autopsy performed on Collier’s body determined that the bullets discovered were discharged from the gun Baxter was wielding and firing.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Nekaybaw’s family for the senseless killing of this young mother, wife and daughter,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, according to the news station.
On Sunday (January 22), Sammie took to his social media to request privacy during this difficult time. “In consideration of the recent news, I would first like to express my most sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Collier,” he wrote. “I understand the severity of the allegations, but I do not have any additional information. At this time, I respectfully request privacy for not only my family, but the family of Mrs. Collier. Thank you.”
Baxter has since been identified as the alleged shooter by a witness at the scene. Upon her arrest, she told law enforcement that she was being “followed” by “multiple vehicles” during the time of the shooting and that she fired the gun in an attempt to ward off pursuers. She also reportedly notes she does not recall the events that happened on the day in question.
