Azealia Banks Dodges Jail Time With Plea Deal

She has to meet some mental health and anger management requirements to stay from behind bars.

After a breast-biting incident caused Harlem raptress Azealia Banks to face third-degree assault charges, a plea deal has caught her a break from facing any jail time as a result.

According to Page Six, the Ice Princess accepted the deal right before the trial was about to commence jury selection. The bargain mandates that she complete anger management, mental health treatment and comply with an order of protection. She’s also to avoid all run-ins with the law during this time. Once these stipulations are met, the site reports, the assault charge will be trimmed down to a disorderly conduct violation.

Lucky for Banks, a 2009 incident where she reportedly slashed her sister in the neck, arm and hand with a box cutter didn’t seem to hold merit on the court’s decision. Reports claim that the violent altercation took place when Banks was 17 years old, and thus, she was given special treatment. Though prosecutors from her current case planned to reference the incident as proof of the Harlem native’s violent history, the plea deal has apparently sufficed as adequate sentencing for Banks.

Should she fail to adhere to all conditions of the plea deal, Banks will face up to one year in jail.
