Kelly Rowland Gives Thoughts on Black Women in Fashion and Wedding Dress
With Kelly Rowland's engagement to her manager Tim Witherspoon, we've been at the edge of our seats for any details the singer dishes out about her wedding plans — especially her gown. Turns out, she's a busy woman who's yet to decide what she'll be wearing on the big day.
"That's a shame. I'm too busy to think about a wedding dress, but whatever it is, I want it to be form-fitted," she told the Huffington Post.
Whatever she chooses, we're sure she'll look fantastic as the fashionista is usually on point with her red carpet style. Perhaps she gathered inspiration during New York Fashion Week, where Rowland made several appearances at various runway shows this month. She went on to share which collections had her begging for more.
"Public School, Cushnie et Ochs and Juan Carlos Obando, which was so beautiful. The way the fabric just fluttered while the ladies walked, it was just nothing short of... I was just slobbering," she said. "It was so gorgeous. I took pictures of everything, I'm like, 'Please, please, I want it!'"
She also took time to note the lack of diversity in the fashion industry and what women need to do to bring each other to new heights.
"As women of color, we have to continue to support each other. All women. Not just women of color, but all women," Rowland said. "When we continue to support each other and not feel some type of way behind it — no jealousy, no ill-feelings — it makes us rise higher as women, because we're just excited for each other. The stronger each other is, the stronger we are as a unit."
