Texas Mother Arrested, Accused Of Abandoning Her Two Kids For More Than Two Months
Thanks to her own Facebook posts and the children’s father, a Texas woman has been arrested for allegedly abandoning her two children for more than two months.
According to NBC News, Raven Yates was found at an apartment complex in Mobile, Alabama, staying with a male friend, on Wednesday (March 8) after an extensive search.
Yates allegedly left her daughter, 12, and son, 3, alone at her home in Texas from September 8, 2022 until the children’s father found out about the devastating situation on November 14.
The father, who lives in California, alerted the Roman Forest Police Department (RFPD) on Nov. 14 that his kids appeared to be left alone for the past two months, “much of the time without access to food or medical supplies,” police stated.
"The father immediately flew in from California where he had been working at the time," RFPD said in the statement, adding that he "had been informed that his child's mother had been seen in Mobile, Alabama without her children and realized they were home alone because he had been asked by his daughter to send food regularly."
The conclusion of RFPD’s investigation led to the issuing of an arrest warrant for Yates on December 8 on two counts abandoning and endangering a child without intent to return.
RFPD stated that Yates “has been actively making social media posts about the situation. This led to many tips and leads” for the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force.
Yates is still listed on the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office inmate roster, as she awaits extradition back to Montgomery County in Texas.
