LeBron Defends His Mom
LeBron James kills the defense on the court, but the NBA powerhouse recently found himself blocking questions about his mother’s April 7th arrest. Gloria James could face battery charges after assaulting a parking Valet at the Fontainbleau Resort in Miami, but LeBron wants to move on from the incident.
"It's very sensitive, because it's your mother, of course... you guys want to ask me anything else about basketball, I'm happy to answer it," LeBron told Miami TV station WSVN at his Thursday practice. "You have to move forward," the Miami Heat player added. "It is my life, and it is certain things you have to deal with, but like I said, I try not to let it be a distraction. I have a job that I have to do still, at the end of the day.”
Police say Gloria was drunk and slapped valet attendant Sorel Rockfeller following an verbal altercation. Rockfeller told WSVN: "Nobody ever slapped me, my mom, my dad, my family. When I was slapped, I was shocked. I've been doing valet for like two weeks, and this is the first time I've met somebody like that."
Gloria had another run-in with the law back in January 2006, when she was arrested for drunk driving. Following that incident she had to perform 100 hours of community service, pay $550 in fines and damages, and attend a class on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.
