Sevyn Streeter Talks Making of Furious 7 Soundtrack
Everything's right on track for Sevyn Streeter, whose latest single "How Bad Do You Want It" is a backdrop for the upcoming blockbuster Furious 7.
"You know how long I wanted to be a part of a soundtrack? That meant everything to me," she told The Breakfast Club in a recent chat. "... I've been a fan of [The] Fast and [the] Furious for so long, I love the franchise." The opportunity was even more fortuitous, she added, because of her name (Sevyn appears on Furious 7, get it?).
Still, she was a little out of her element during the recording process. "It's different because ... I'm used to writing records as a whole," she explained. But for this, it was used for a certain scene in the movie (no spoilers) and so "they spliced and diced it."
She'll be performing her song live on Revolt April 1 alongside a set from Ludacris and Wiz Khalifa and interviews from the entire cast.
Elsewhere in her interview, Sevyn talks about prepping her next album (Verge, releasing this summer with an August Alsina feature on "Been a Minute"), working with Chris Brown as a boss ("amazing") and her whirlwind of a schedule, which includes spa days with the fans ("I love doing stuff like that," she says. "That's me all day.").
She also weighed in on her friend Karrueche Tran's recent appearance on OWN ("I can't speak on her life," Sevyn said) and answered if she has seen Breezy's [rumored] baby. "I ain't seen my mama, truth be told." She's been that busy. But don't panic, she's got plans to see her real soon.
Furious 7 hits theaters April 3.
