Food Truck Worker Taped Assaulting Black Woman After Calling Her A N****r For Paying With Quarters
The owner of a food truck in Portland, Maine, was arrest on assault charges Wednesday after he was recording throwing a Gatorade bottle at a Black woman after caller her a “n****r.”
In the video, recorded by Carlotta Washington, downtown food cart owner Islam Elmasry, of the Small Pharoah's halal cart, was arguing with the victim after she attempted to pay for her lunch with quarters, reported Willamette Week.
At the climax of the video, Elmasry told Washington to "get the f**k away" from the cart while threatening her with a Gatorade bottle. Eventually, he threw the bottle at Washington, who dropped her phone as a result.
According to Washington, Elmasry then sprayed her with Sriracha chili sauce, yet she did not record that part.
"It was in my eyes and all on my skin. It was burning terribly," Washington told the local news outlet.
Witnesses were asked to called the police before the video cuts out.
According to witness Rachel Good, who provided the victim's video, she approached the scene immediately after the assault and saw Washington covered with Sriracha.
Elmasry was booked into Multnomah County jail at 4:29 pm for misdemeanor harassment and assault. Bail is set at $4,000.
