Source Reveals What the LAPD Found Out About the OJ Knife

We finally have an answer as to whether it could have been the murder weapon.

The knife that was found at O.J. Simpson's former Brentwood home nearly two decades ago, which was just recently turned over to the LAPD, has captured the imagination of many since its discovery. The LAPD has been testing the knife to determine whether or not it is the murder weapon that was used to kill Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, and now we may finally have the answer: according to sources, officials believe that it is most likely not the murder weapon.

“The official said the knife is commonly used among gardeners and was too small to make the wounds that killed Nicole Simpson Brown and Ron Goldman,” an LAPD official, who spoke to the Associated Press, says.  However, another officer, Ricardo Hernandez, told People, “We can’t say for sure that it is or it isn’t.”

Simpson’s former manager Norman Pardo said that the former NFL star is somewhat bothered, but not too worried, about the findings. “When he heard the news on TV, all he did was shake his head, as if to say, ‘Will this ever end?’ He’s definitely shrugging it off and pretty much saying, 'I’m not going to worry about it.’”

It is pretty good timing for the new FX series, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, which chronicles the history of O.J.’s murder trial and has received a noticeable bump in ratings since the knife’s discovery.

Pardo did note that one thing O.J. is a bit nervous about is what any kind of discovery could mean for his possible prison time. “[O.J.] is a little worried because if it’s one of his pocket knifes, and if it’s got his blood on it, that could make him look bad when he’s up for parole.”

Forensic testing, which will be looking for fingerprints and DNA from both O.J. or either of the victims, likely wont be complete for another three weeks. Until then, the knife will continue to grip those who remember the trial so well and those who are just being introduced to it by way of FX’s new show.
