Floyd Mayweather Talks Punching Power of Maidana, Pacquiao
When it comes to the punching power of Marcos Maidana and Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather says one hits hard, while the other is losing his zing.
During a media conference call on Wednesday, “Money” Mayweather dissected the punching prowess of both Maidana, his opponent next Saturday night (May 3), while also taking the time to throw some jabs at Pacquiao, the boxer that fans still want to see him in the ring with.
"He punches extremely hard if he has an 80 percent knockout ratio,” Mayweather said of Maidana. “That's obviously his best attribute, but a lot of times when a guy's swinging a lot of big shots and they're not landing, you get fatigued like that.”
And speaking of fatigue, Mayweather said he saw plenty of it in Pacquiao during his unanimous decision victory over Timothy Bradley on April 12.
“I don't see the same pop in Pacquiao's shots,” Mayweather said. “Once again, I'm not saying this guy is doing anything, but I don't see the same snap in his shots. He's getting tired when he wasn't getting tired before. I'm seeing something totally different, whereas me, I'm still sharp, I'm still smart, I'm not getting fatigued. I wasn't getting fatigued from the beginning, and those are the things that I see. I don't know if you guys see it, but that's what I see.”
Mayweather will be looking to improve to 46-0 with a win over Maidana (35-3), who is coming off of punishing Mayweather’s friend Adrien Broner through 12 rounds of a unanimous decision back in December 2013.
