Ndamukong Suh Wins Appeal, Will Play Playoff Game
That was quick.
A day after the NFL suspended Ndamukong Suh for the Detroit Lions-Dallas Cowboys playoff game, the star defensive tackle won his appeal Tuesday and now will be able to play in the wild-card match up Sunday, according to ESPN. Instead of being suspended, the league's appeals officer, Ted Cottrell, ruled that Suh will have to pay a $70,000 fine. Suh was present at the appeal hearing at NFL headquarters in New York City on Tuesday.
Suh was originally suspended Monday, a day after he stepped on the calf and ankle of Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers during the Lions-Packers game on Sunday. Rodgers reacted to the league's decision to grant Suh an appeal Tuesday.
"The only thing I can say is if you step on something in your everyday life or if you step on somebody on the field, the first reaction seems to be looking back and maybe apologizing with your hands or maybe pulling your foot back right away, and I'm just not sure that's what happened on Sunday," Rodgers told ESPN.
Since 2010, Suh has been fined over $200,000 by the NFL and has 38 penalties.
