OK, sis! Rihanna is literally glowing, and she's rocking some braids for the culture, too.
Rihanna hasn't just changed the beauty game, but she's also influenced the way that women of color see themselves in mainstream media. In five thank you notes written to Rihanna, Black women share how the singer turned beauty/fashion mogul has influenced their lives.
Slick Woods, who gave birth shortly after walking in Rihanna's Savage x Fenty show during NYFW, tells Rihanna how she helped changed the public's perception of Slick Woods.
“People loved the idea of Slick, but you gave me countless platforms to let people actually fall in love with who I am. You made inclusivity cool, and that’s revolutionary. Now people are putting money toward inclusion, rather than putting money toward a certain supremacy. It’s a beautiful switch in pace. You have my loyalty until the end of time.”
Cynde Watson, a model turned makeup artist, explained the appreciation she feels for the success of Rihanna's makeup brand after she attempted to make the beauty industry more inclusive just ten years prior to Fenty Beauty's launch.
"I credit you for breaking boundaries and shaking things up in today’s beauty space with your intense conviction and celebrity influence. You are inspiring consumers, retailers, and future beauty brands to think globally and recognize that all skin tones matter. And that’s a beautiful thing."
Rihanna is on a serious winning streak, and it can only go up from here! What will she do next? Hopefully, it's new music!
