Niecy Nash surprised the world today when she announced that she married singer/songwriter Jessica Betts less than one year after finalizing her divorce from her husband of 8 years, Jay Cutler.

“Mrs. Carol Denise Betts,” the 50-year-old actress captioned an Instagram photo from her wedding, along with the hashtag #LoveWins. Surrounded by flowers and fresh air, the lovebirds make their union official with an intimate outdoor ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.

    Niecy Nash married Jay Cutler in 2011 in Malibu, and incredibly, it was Betts who sang at their celebration. According to the Daily Mail, the Scream Queens star might have been referring to the irony somewhat with a picture of her and her new wife she posted in her Instagram Story with the hashtag “#PlotTwist.”

    Originally from Chicago, Betts is an R&B/soul artist who, according to her personal website, loves to write her own original music. In 2011, she was inducted as a BET Music Matters artist and closed the BET Honors pre-show in February of 2014.

    According to the New York Times, Betts once performed on a New York City subway. “Years ago I was having one of those get-on-the-subway-and-weep nyc bad days when @JessicaBetts got on and started singing and it made me cry more? but then I felt like someone *healed me* after she got off at 125th st,” tweeted Times reporter Tariro Mzezewa. “That she’s married to niecy only makes her THAT much cooler.”

    In 2005, Jessica Betts became the winner of a reality television show called the “Road to Stardom” where she beat out thousands of contestants. In front of judges Teena Marie, Dallas Austin, Madonna and Missy Elliot, she wowed everyone on the show and those watching at home.
