Donald Trump Somehow Tried To Take Credit For NFL Players Locking Arms In Unity And Was Promptly Dragged
Donald Trump will take credit for everything and blame anything he perceives bad on someone else.
That’s what he did today (September 24) as well. After calling any player who kneels during the national anthem a “son of a bitch,” the president tried to take credit for the aftermath, which was over 100 players kneeling during the national anthem on Sunday.
In a tweet, Trump wrote, “Great solidarity for our National Anthem and for our Country. Standing with locked arms is good, kneeling is not acceptable. Bad ratings!”
Wait. So since when is locking arms ok but not kneeling? Who’s making the rules anymore? Later, Trump followed up with the tired explanation of how kneeling somehow disrespects the flag and American troops.
“Courageous Patriots have fought and died for our great American Flag --- we MUST honor and respect it! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he tweeted. He also followed up with his assertion that players should be cut for not standing during the anthem. “Sports fans should never condone players that do not stand proud for their National Anthem or their Country. NFL should change policy!”
Sigh. Unpatriotic definitely describes some people. The White House definitely comes to mind…
Donald Trump also got slammed on social media. See reaction to his tweets below.
