Andy Murray Stanned for Serena Williams and Shut Down This Reporter's 'Casual Sexism' With Two Words
Andy Murray wants to make sure that you put respect on Venus and Serena Williams's names out here.
After losing to Sam Querrey in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon yesterday, one reporter referred to Murray's opponent as the "first U.S. player" to reach a major semifinal since 2009, and was immediately shut down for it.
"Sam is the first U.S. player to reach a major semifinal since 2009, how would you..." the reporter said.
"Male player," Murray interrupted.
"Ah yes ... male player. That's for sure."
Venus and Serena had notably reached major semifinals since 2009 and Murray wanted to make sure the reporter clarified his statement.
That being said, tennis fans and beyond loved the way that Murray stanned for the Williams sisters. And it wasn't the first time that he repped for them, either.
Not on Andy Murray's watch
He shut that down quick, didn't he?
Well, that was a quick end to that reporter's "casual sexism" wasn't it?
