Consequences and Repercussions: Lakers Giving D'Angelo Russell the Silent Treatment

The aftermath of the infamous Nick Young recording.

D'Angelo Russell broke the guy code and he's being put on ice for it.

ESPN is reporting that the Los Angeles Lakers are "isolating" the rookie guard after he recorded a video conversation with teammate Nick Young, who seems to admit cheating on his fiancee, Iggy Azaleain the clip.

Although it's unclear how the video hit the Internet, the Lakers aren't happy with Russell for recording it in the first place.

"Right now, they're handling it by isolating him," one source told ESPN about the Lakers' silent treatment of the rook.

Another team insider told ESPN: "This was a prank gone wrong and a mistake by [Russell], and he has to be held accountable, but I would hope he isn't overly criticized for it."

How bad is it?

"It's bad," a different source told ESPN. "It's about as bad as it can get. There were trust issues already. Now there's no trust."

In the video, which lit up social media and gossip sites last week, Russell asks Young: "You was 30 and she was 19?"

"Yeah," Young responds.

"Oh, hell naw," Russell says.

It's bad enough that the Lakers are suffering through a franchise-worst 15-59 record in Kobe Bryant's 20th and final season of his legendary career.

This in-team turmoil just makes the Purple and Gold look that much more messy this season.

Why would Russell ever record Swaggy P admitting to cheating? What part of the game is that?
