How Cam Newton's Super Bowl 50 Kicks Shout Out Another Star Baller
Throughout his career, Cam Newton has identified with Superman, regularly pulling at his pads as if to reveal the "S" on his chest just like the super hero himself.
Well, ESPN has revealed the kicks that the Carolina Panthers' star quarterback will be rocking for Super Bowl 50 on Sunday ... and they truly take Cam's fandom for Superman to another level.
According to ESPN, Newton's camp had seen impressive shoe customization work on designer Devlin Braswell's Instagram account and reached out to him before the playoffs even began, requesting an extra-special pair in the case that the QB would lead the Panthers to the Super Bowl.
Well, when Newton and Carolina punched their ticket to Super Bowl 50, Braswell was ready with his unique mash-up, using the Under Armour Stephen Curry Two shoes with a Panthers' logo and tongue that zips down to show the Superman logo.
"They didn't give me any direction, but I did a little research," Braswell told ESPN, adding that it took him $300 in materials and about eight hours to construct the sneakers. "I know he's an Under Armour guy and know that he and Steph mutually respect each other. And I had to do something with Superman."
Now, all that's left is for "Superman" to win Super Bowl 50. He'll have his chance Sunday, when the Panthers face the Denver Broncos in San Francisco.
