#BlackGirlMagic: Watch Swimmer Simone Manuel's Emotional Gold Medal Ceremony

This is what making Olympic history looks like.

Simone Manuel made history Thursday night in the Rio Games, becoming the first Black woman to win an individual Olympic gold medal in swimming by winning the 100-meter freestyle.

Although viewers watching at home got to see her emotional celebration in the pool after winning the event, NBC didn't air her heartfelt, teary-eyed reaction during her gold medal ceremony.

The network did, however, post it to its Twitter account.

And you can see Simone get choked up immediately during the national anthem to the point where she just let those tears flow.

That's the epitome of tears of joy if we have ever seen it.

"I'm just so blessed to have a gold medal," the 20-year-old Manuel told NBC following the race. "This medal is not just for me. It's for a whole bunch of people who came before me and have been an inspiration to me ... it's for all the people after me who believe they can't do it, and I just want to be an inspiration to others that you can do it."

Great moment.
