By losing their 23rd consecutive game Thursday, the Charlotte Bobcats are officially the worst team ever in the NBA.
The Michael Jordan-owned team lost to the New York Knicks 104-84 and ended the season with a .106 winning percentage.
The last team with an average so poor was the Philadelphia 76ers, which finished their 1972-73 season 9-73 (.110), according to the Associated Press. The Bobcats finished 7-59 in the NBA lockout-shortened season.
Writes the Associated Press:
"They were last in league scoring and shooting percentage. They lost 22 games by 20 points or more. And it's hard to decide what was worse, their offense or their defense.
"This year's Bobcats were everything Jordan wasn't as a player — unproductive, uncompetitive and unwatchable."
