Social Media Reacts To The Senseless Killing Of Ahmaud Arbery

The 25-year-old was unarmed and jogging when he was shot.

On February, 23, 73 days ago, in the middle of the a bright and sunny afternoon in Georgia, Gregory McMichael, 64, who is a former police officer and district attorney's investigator, and his son, Travis McMichael, 34, reportedly confronted Ahmaud Arbery because they suspected him of being a burglar in the suburban neighborhood of Satilla Shores, Georgia. Arbery was unarmed and jogging at the time through the quiet neighborhood. 

The police report said the father and son spotted him, grabbed a .357 magnum and a shotgun, jumped into a pickup truck and went after Arbery.
The 25-year-old Black man would be dead within minutes.. See the graphic video below of Arbery’s last moments below. 

  • After two other district attorneys refused to prosecute, outrage from activists on social media and attorney Lee Merritt, who now represents the Arbey family, there is now a sign that Gregory and Travis McMichael might be held accountable.

    According to News4, Tom Durden, District Attorney Pro Tempore for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit, is now recommending the case be “presented to the grand jury of Glynn County for consideration of criminal charges against those involved in the death of Mr. Arbery.”
