The fatal shooting of 26-year-old Botham Jean, of Dallas, has not only devastated a community but it has left many unanswered questions. Amber Guyger, the white officer who killed Jean, has offered several stories about the evening that don’t seem to add up and Jean’s family attorney is still trying to lock in a motive for the killing. Although police have not suggested a racial motivation for the shooting, unearthed memes shared by Guyger have some saying she is racist.

Guyger, who has been charged with manslaughter, deleted many of her social media accounts after the shooting. However, online sleuths found offensive memes that she shared. In one of the most recent memes, there is an image of Colin Kaepernick with the text “the NFL died of Colin cancer." 

In addition to the Kaepernick meme, Guyger also saved and shared memes that joked about people dying.

While Guyger has remained silent about the memes and the shooting, officials at the Southside Flats have confirmed she vacated her apartment.

On Sunday, residents of the apartment complex received an email saying Guyger “has vacated her apartment and no longer resides at our community,” according to an email obtained by WFAA.

“Once again we extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and neighbors of Botham Jean,” the building’s community manager, Taylor Cooks, told residents in an email. “As you are likely aware, the shooting that occurred at Southside Flats on September 6th is still an ongoing investigation, and we are unable to comment on it at all.”

It is not known whether Guyger moved out voluntarily or was forced out. 

While Guyger was moving out of her apartment, a group of about 100 activists performed a peaceful protest at AT&T stadium during the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.

Attorney Lee Merritt said in a press release Monday that nine activists engaged in a peaceful act of civil disobedience in which they obstructed traffic into the game. When police showed up, they complied and submitted to arrest. 

They were taken to Arlington City Jail and charged with a Class B misdemeanor, which required them to spend the night in jail.

“The officer who shot and killed Botham Jean remains on the Dallas police force and was able to bond out on manslaughter charges in a fraction of the time the protestors have spent in jail," Merritt said in the press release.
