Despite Reports, No Boston Bomb Arrest Made
Conflicting reports have emerged over whether police have arrested a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings today, after two videos revealed images of the suspect.
CNN, Associated Press and several other media outlets reported that Boston Police made an arrest around 2 p.m. Monday. However, the FBI and Boston’s Police Department have confirmed that no arrest has taken place.
"Contrary to widespread reporting, there have been no arrests made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack," the FBI said in a statement. "Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting."
The speculation comes after authorities analyzed video from a department store near the site of the second explosion.
