Eddie Long's Church Denies His Wife Has Moved Out
Eddie Long’s wife, Vanessa, is sticking by her man.
Earlier this week rumors surfaced that the first lady of the church had moved out of the couple’s house. The rumors came just weeks after the attorneys of both Long and the four defendants suing him for sexual misconduct confirmed that the case had “been resolved.” Allegedly it was settled for $15 million.
One blog cited unnamed members and employees saying that Vanessa Long had moved out of the home three months ago taking the children with her. It also claimed that she started worshipping at another church.
New Birth, however, is shutting down all rumors calling them "completely and absolutely false."
"Mrs. Long is very much a loving, dedicated and committed wife and mother," church spokesman Art Franklin in a statement Tuesday. "It is unfortunate that anyone would make such hateful and damaging false claims of this nature. These cruel and insensitive rumors have the potential to cause immeasurable pain and suffering. Those involved should feel obligated to retract their earlier statements."
The church claimed that they did not want to address the issue but they felt compelled after multiple blogs started spreading the rumor.
The couple married in 1990 and have three children together. Vanessa is Long’s second wife.
