Bobby Shmurda Denied Bail Again
Bobby Shmurda’s bid for another bail was denied again earlier today ahead of his pending trial for drug dealing and weapons possession charges.
During the hearing, Page Six reported that the 21-year-old rapper was denied another bail request by Judge James Burke and set a new trial date for February 22, 2016. Currently, Shmurda’s bail is set for $2 million, but his bond application was rejected in February.
The Brooklyn native is also represented by a new lawyer. Howard Greenberg and Kenneth Montgomery were huge advocates for Shmurda, but have since left the case in the hands of another legal representative. Now, it is Alex Spiro from the law firm Brafman & Associates. Spiro wanted Shmurda to be released from jail while the trial was pending, but Burke denied the request.
Shmurda, along with 14 other GS9 members, were arrested last year in connection to a drug and firearm ring, public shootings and a murder of a 19-year-old rival. This was all during the peak of Shmuda’s career when his single “Hot Boy” was topping the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
