Drake Drops 'Tell Your Friends' on Beats 1 While Meek Mill Reps for Tidal
The beef between Drake and Meek Mill is now complete with corporate sponsors. The latest chapter in the saga occured on Saturday when Drake dropped his remix of The Weeknd's Kanye West-produced hit "Tell Your Friends"... at the same moment Meek was on stage at Made In America.
Though the track is pure heartbreak Drake, this perceived shade goes beyond the two rappers and now involves Apple and Tidal. You see, Drizzy released his remix on Beats 1's OVO Sound Radio while Meek was repping for Jay Z's streaming service at the festival (the entire weekend is being live streamed).
The Apple/Tidal beef also has a history involving Drake: last weekend, Tidal posted a nasty message during a live stream of Lil Wayne's Lil WeezyAna Festival, saying Apple forced them to black out Drake's performance (the Toronto rapper recently signed a multi-million exclusivity deal with Apple).
A rep for Drake came out and said that Apple in no way blocked, and that the decision was theirs (something about quality control), but those familiar with corporate warfare aren't buying it.
As for the timing of Drake's track drop — though he says on it, "no one's keeping score" –– we don't believe that's a coincidence, either.
