New Kids on the Block: Boogie and Post Malone Sign to Major Labels
Two of this year’s much-talked about talent in hip hop — Boogie and Post Malone — have inked deals with major labels.
First, Compton native Boogie signed to Interscope. After the explosion of “Oh My,” the West Coast newcomer released his second mixtape, The Reach, that received a lot of love from rap fans and critics. The single, “Oh My," is on iTunes now, which means we can expect an official major label project in the near future.
Second, Post Malone signed to Republic Records. His viral hit, “White Iverson,” started off as a SoundCloud sensation and quickly became arguably the song of the summer. His self-titled EP contains more catchy cuts, but “White Iverson” is the single that’s been taking over airwaves across the country. C’mon, it’s not every day you see James Harden rock out to it with Post.
With both artists scheduled to release albums sometime this year, it’s a good time for hip hop’s new school and we can’t to see what they can do.
