TLC's final album is a go. Four days after the group launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund their next — and last — LP, they had already exceeded their $150,000 goal. As of Friday morning, the campaign has raised more than $200,000. The money will go towards the making of TLC’s first album since 2002’s 3D.
Group members T-Boz and Chilli shared their excitement on Twitter. "I get off the plane 2 find out not only did we reach our goal but we're the fastest MOST FUNDED POP PROJECT IN #KICKSTARTER HISTORY! Thx," wrote an excited T-Boz, while Chilli tweeted, "We are officially the most successful pop project of all time on @kickstarter in 72hrs!!! #TLCFANS #thelove."
Among the donors who helped TLC make crowdfunding history are Katy Perry, who donated $5,000, Soulja Boy, Bette Midler and New Kids on the Block, with whom TLC is touring this summer.
