Rah Digga Responds to Iggy Azalea Controversy
Rah Digga’s comments about Iggy Azalea’s music has led to a merry-go-round of Twitter reactions from both rappers. The Azalea controversy started after Digga was asked for her opinion on the current breed of female rap stars, and stated that she doesn’t consider the 24-year-old’s work "'real' hip hop."
After Azalea hit back with some subliminal tweets, Digga filed her response. “I'm gonna keep this brief cuz I'm REALLY busy working with the Mayor and the city. We've created a hip hop school that PAYS homeless youth,” she tweeted, late last week. “As a person that has studied Hip Hop since it's INCEPTION I am HIGHLY qualified to speak on it. *I DONE SEEN IT ALL.*”
Digga blamed the interviewer for steering an open-ended conversation back to Azalea. “Kinda hard to have an intellectual convo about Hip Hop as a whole when the person you're talking to makes it about 1 person,” continued the former Flip Mode Squad affiliate. “Not my crusade. I just answer the questions I don't press issues...the SAME questions just keep coming up tho...and I keep giving my SAME opinion.”
Later in the tweets, she moved away from Azalea and onto her “bigger issue” with hip hop and “Black rappers.”
“We couldn’t expand on that tho,” she wrote before explaining what she learned from the experience. “Next time I’ll try to be MORE clear when I’m speaking on someone specifically vs Hip Hop as a whole..tho I thought I did that several times.”
