Jeezy Arrested for Possession of Assault Rifle
Jeezy was arrested for suspected possession of an illegal firearm, after an assault riffle was found on his tour bus in Irvine, Calif., Sunday (Aug. 24), reports TMZ. The Atlanta rapper, whose birth name is Jay Jenkins, was busted at the Verizon Amphitheatre before he could perform on Wiz Khalifa's Under the Influence of Music Tour date, last night.
Authorities from Mountain View, Calif., traveled South in connection with the homicide investigation of Eric Johnson, a 38-year-old concert promoter gunned down during a Northern California tour stop this past Friday. No arrests have been made in Johnson's death. "MVPD detectives are aggressively following up on all leads," police said in a statement.
Although Jeezy hasn't been implicated in the shooting, he and five members of his entourage – Alexa Beason, 52, William Gilmore, 48, David Kuniansky-Altman, 31, Kena Marshall, 39, and Peter Maynard, 38 – were all arrested after a search of the bus turned up the weapon. Police have not yet revealed how, or why, the homicide triggered the search of Jeezy's bus.
The 36-year-old rapper remains locked up on $1,000,000 bail.
