Drake Aims Another Subliminal Diss at Kendrick Lamar
If his verse on Future's "S---" remix is any indication as to how he feels, Drake's friendship with Kendrick Lamar is officially done.
OVO's finest opens Future's newly released song re-up -- also featuring Juicy J -- by throwing subliminals right at Lamar. "I hear you talk about your city like you run that/ And I brought my tour to your city/ You my son there, n----a," he spits over the Mike WiLL Made It-produced beat. "If a n----a say my name, he the hot s---/ But if I say the n---a name, he still the hot s--- / F---ed up/ Lucky I don't feed into the gossip."
The retaliation verse wasn't enough to impress TDE however. Label boss Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith tweeted, "If this is the best s--- n----s got…I feel sorry 4 em…lmao #TDE," then defended Lamar's jabs at Drake via "Control" and during the BET Hip Hop Awards cypher. "The kid made rap fun again…everybody shud thank him," he wrote.
Meanwhile, TDE president Terrence "Punch" Henderson responded to Drizzy's raps with, "Hahahaha. That's it? Really?"
Lamar of course hasn't hit back (he washed his hands of the situation in GQ magazine), but now that he finally got a lyrical response maybe the battle isn't over.
