Chuck Brown, "Godfather of Go Go," Hospitalized
Legendary musician Chuck Brown, known as the "Godfather of Go Go," a distinct brand of funk music that originated in Washington D.C., has canceled an upcoming show due to "joint pain and inflammation that has prevented him from performing" and sent him to the hospital, reports the Huffington Post.
Brown was scheduled to perform at the newly renovated Howard Theatre near the campus of Howard University, however the show will now be pushed back to June. His camp released a statement on the illness:
"The Brown family wants to extend their thanks and deepest appreciation to everyone for their concern, prayers and best wishes for Chuck Brown during his hospitalization. They ask for your continued prayers."
This was not the first time Brown has had to cancel an event due to health reasons. In early March he canceled a show when his doctor ordered him to rest a couple of days.
