Celebrity Friends Gather to Celebrate Whitney Houston's Life
All eyes are on Newark, New Jersey, this afternoon, as Whitney Houston's celebrity friends arrive at the star's funeral service at New Hope Baptist Church. Not since Whitney first found her voice within those walls as a child in the choir, have they resonated with so much star power.
In attendance to celebrate their friend are cousin Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson (who sang a fitting tribute to Houston at the Grammys on Sunday), Tyler Perry, Donnie McClurkin, Brandy and brother Ray J, Bebe Winans, Cece Winans, Marvin Winans, R. Kelly, Lela Rochon (who starred with Houston in Waiting to Exhale) Kevin Costner (her co-star in The Bodyguard), mentor Clive Davis and Alicia Keys.
Also in the revered space are Reverend Jesse Jackson, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Newark mayor Cory Booker, Al Sharpton and Michael Eric Dyson. Ex-husband Bobby Brown was there, but left after roughly five minutes. No word yet on what prompted his exit.
