Elephant Man Charged in Rape Case
Reggae star Elephant Man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of rape. The Jamaican dancehall singer, who had an international smash with 2003's "Pon De River," was the target of a police investigation following a complaint by the victim.
According to reports, Elephant Man, born O'Neill Bryan, was questioned by police, who arrested him after they decided the woman's story held up. The 36-year-old singer was later released from prison after posting a bail of $400,000 in Jamaican currency ($4,637.95 USD).
In addition to his own hit songs, Elephant Man also appeared on the "Get Low" remix with Lil Jon and Busta Rhymes, as well as on tracks with Twista and Wyclef Jean. The animated dancehall singer released his eighth studio album, Dance & Sweep: Adventures of the Energy God, last year.
