Zendaya’s New Beauty Contract Is Truly Epic

She’s joining an iconic family of trendsetters.

Just days after musing about wanting to start doing makeup tutorials, Zendaya is breaking into the beauty business in a huge way. CoverGirl announced via Twitter on Thursday that the 19-year-old actress/singer is its newest spokeswoman, further cementing her status as the It Girl of the moment.

On receiving the coveted contract, Zendaya said in a statement, “I am so honored to join the company of a roster as celebrated and diverse as CoverGirl's. I can’t wait to share some of my own beauty tips with fans, and work alongside CoverGirl to continue empowering girls and women to celebrate their individuality.” The K.C. Undercover star joins the CoverGirl family alongside longtime spokeswomen Janelle Monae, Queen Latifah, P!nk, Katy Perry and Ellen DeGeneres.

Zendaya recently told Teen Vogue about her red carpet glam routine (she blocks off three hours to get ready!) and her favorite CoverGirl eyeshadows. “You sometimes assume that because makeup is sold at the drugstore, the pigment won’t be as opaque. But they have bomb colors,” she said. “They even have some dope colors that I haven’t seen in higher-end brands. They’re especially great if you wet them.”

In what looks like a sneak peak of a forthcoming video campaign, the starlet sports two distinct beauty looks — a natural face and soft waves in one, then rainbow-streaked eyeshadow and bantu knots in the other. On screen, she playfully recites the brand’s iconic slogan: “easy, breezy, beautiful, CoverGirl.”

Her first CoverGirl TV spot will air during the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on February 15, 2016, and will feature the new lineup of CoverGirl products including Plumpify Mascara by LashBlast Pro, truNAKED Eyeshadow Palette and Liners, and Oh Sugar Lip Balm.
