A Friendsgiving Playlist Inspired By 'Tyler Perry’s Sistas'
The holidays are in full swing, and with Thanksgiving on the horizon, this is the perfect time to start preparing for gatherings, especially Friendsgiving. We haven’t seen a holiday episode of “Tyler Perry’s Sistas” just yet, but we can imagine what a Friendsgiving with the crew would be like. It will probably start okay, but at some point, drama will commence. The one thing that will be consistent, though, is the music. Here’s a Friendsgiving playlist inspired by the sistas.
Durand Bernarr - “Mango Butter”
Every Friendsgiving needs this kind of empowerment to keep the good vibes up for the season. Sometimes, you must hype yourself up and remind yourself to end the year with self-gratitude. Cheers to a refresh.
Patrice Rushen - “Forget Me Nots”
What’s a gathering of Black women without a certified auntie jam? Nothing!
Chaka Khan - “I Know You, I Live You”
Another certified auntie banger from muva herself, Chaka Khan! This is the kind of tune to throw on when you want your guests to dance or when you need to entertain yourself while cooking or cleaning. The subject matter also fits this group of women who get sprung easily.

Temptations - “Silent Night”
There is no Black holiday gathering without the Temptations’ version of “Silent Night.” There is no “Silent Night” that does not begin with “In my mind,” otherwise, we don’t want to hear it.
The Gap Band - “Outstanding”
Some of the sistas are booed up now, so of course, we gotta have a tune for the uncs too.
Tyler the Creator - “Sticky”
Not every song has to be a classic, but this 2024 jam is a classic in the making and a good one for anyone who wants to dance.

Lion Babe - “Mama Wanna Dance”
After the year these sistas have been through, they need a good dance track to shake it off. This is the right one via Lion Babe.
Mary J Blige - “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”
It’s officially Christmas music season, so we must throw another carol. This version of “Have Yourse4lf a Merry Little Christmas” has that Mary J flavor.
Megan Thee Stallion and Glorilla - “Wanna Be”
It’s officially Christmas music season, so we must throw another carol. This version of “Have Yourse4lf a Merry Little Christmas” has that Mary J flavor.
