Tracee Ellis Ross is working it on an upcoming issue of JET magazine in brick red lips, a come hither stare and all that gorgeous hair! Inside the issue, the star of the upcoming BET series Reed Between the Lines shares her top beauty, style and fitness secrets that keep her looking fabulous at 40.
On Her Enviable Curls:
"I have so much hair it’s extraordinary," she says, admitting no one is more obsessed than she is. "You could take half the hair on my head and cover another person’s head." She grew out her relaxer in high school and has tested so many styles, serums and conditioners that she might put out a book and a line of hair products one day. Not a fan of bone straight hair — "I’m Diana Ross’s child…big hair is what I come from" — she has learned one important lesson in natural hair management: "You gotta respect the curls," she says. "I work for them. I can’t tell them what to do."
On Her Hair Go-To Product:
“I love Kérastase products, especially Serum Oléo Relax. It’s expensive, but it lasts a long time. There’s something about this serum that coats my hair and smoothes the cuticle.” When she does straighten her hair she says the product is, “the key to getting a glossy, smooth blowout without being bone-straight so there's still some volume to it."
On Her Favorite Places to Shop:
"I freaking love Zara. Zara, Zara, Zara. My closet is filled with Zara." Ross has another cheap thrill for the gorgeous dresses she rocks. "All of my favorite summer dresses were $15.99 from Urban Outfitters. You can find great shoes there, too."
On How She Keeps Her Figure Tight:
Tracee credits her knockout figure to the Tracy Anderson Method (available on DVD). "While doing the exercises, I feel sexy, I feel beautiful, I am laughing my ass off and I have a ball."
