Trinity Rodman Says Dennis Rodman ‘Isn’t a Dad’ in Emotional Podcast Interview
U.S. Women’s National Team star Trinity Rodman did not hold back when discussing her relationship with her father, NBA legend Dennis Rodman, during a revealing appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.
The 22-year-old touched on the emotional toll of protecting her father’s public image during the Wednesday (Dec 18) episode. “We never want to make him look bad, and that is at the cost of kind of holding it in a lot. I guess it’s just like the anger that I haven’t really been able to let out is difficult for me,” she admitted.
Reflecting on her childhood, the Washington Spirit forward shared some insight into her challenges growing up with her father’s larger-than-life personality.
“We had an expedition, and we kind of lived in that for a little bit,” the athlete recalled, explaining, “We tried to live with him, but he’s having parties 24/7, he is bringing random [expletives] in. He loves the spotlight, he loves the cameras, he loves bringing us on stage and being like, ‘These are my kids.’”
However, the Olympic Gold medalist expressed deep frustration over her father’s behavior, describing him as absent in all but name. “He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else,” she said bluntly.
Trinity previously acknowledged a distant connection with her father during a vintage interview with The Wall Street Journal, but her comments on the podcast mark the most candid critique of their relationship to date.
Dennis has three children, including a 36-year-old daughter, Alexis, whom he shares with his first wife, Annie Bakes, as well as his 23-year-old son, Dennis "D.J." Jr., and Trinity, with his third wife, Michelle Moyer.
