Stacey Dash Doesn't Care What Black People Think About Her Weird Oscar Appearance
Stacey Dash's appearance during last night's Oscar telecast was the most "WTF" moment of the night. After an introduction from host Chris Rock as the “director of our new minority outreach program,” Dash emerged onto the stage, put her hands on her hips and declared, “I cannot wait to help my people out. Happy Black History Month!”
The expressions on audience members faces — particularly the Weeknd and Chrissy Teigen — pretty much summed up how the rest of us felt about the awkward appearance. But, of course, Stacey Dash doesn't care what we think. In fact, she said so in a blog post which went live at precisely the moment she walked across the stage:
"When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes," she wrote. "I’m not 'black enough,' they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks — and votes — just like all my friends.”
Well, props for self-awareness, because she's right, a lot of eyes were rolling. Relive the totally weird moment below:
Remember when Stacey Dash used Morgan Freeman in her argument against Black History Month, saying that he basically agrees with her? Well, we sat down with the legendary actor and asked him how he feels about getting dragged into her foolery. His answer might surprise you. Watch below:
