Kelly Osbourne Leaving Fashion Police
Fashion Police appears to be on its last legs. Kelly Osbourne is making good on her threats to leave the series after the recent scandal over racist comments, E! confirmed Friday.
In a statement, the cable network announced, “Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers.”
The show has faced more backlash than a bad outfit after co-host Giuliana Rancic made offensive comments about former Disney star Zendaya's locs during an Oscars special. The Twitterverse was quick to call out Rancic's racism for saying the 18-year-old "must smell like patchouli oil," or even "weed" for rocking the hairstyle. Zendaya responded via social media, calling Rancic's comments as "ignorant slurs and pure disrespect."
Rancic made an on-air apology to Zendaya, which the young star accepted. "I'm glad it was a learning experience for you and the network," she wrote in response. Meanwhile, Access Hollywood's Billy Bush confirmed that the offensive joke was scripted and made it into the final edit of the show, despite the fact that it had to be approved by a Black senior producer for Fashion Police.
No decisions have been made on Osbourne’s replacement — or Rancic's fate.
