Columbus Short Arrested for Public Intoxication
Columbus Short's downward spiral continues. The former Scandal star has been arrested for fighting with security guards at a Dallas, Texas watering hole on the Fourth of July, local police confirm. Short was cuffed and booked on charges of public intoxication and is currently behind bars.
The actor, 31, was drinking at Katy Trail Ice House for four hours during the Fourth of July holiday before leaving without paying his tab, TMZ reports. When stopped by a security guard, Short reportedly accused the employee of racism and a fight ensued. Short was then arrested for public intoxication and taken to jail.
"He was uncooperative with police," a bar employee tells People.com. "It was a minor issue. He was verbally assaulting the police."
The incident comes just weeks after Short was ordered by a judge to pay $21,000 in spousal and child support to his ex-wife Tanee McCall Short, along with her legal bills. Apart from the messy divorce, Short has also been in court with a man he allegedly "sucker-punched" and left unconscious in a Los Angeles bar this past March.
Short announced the he would not be returning as Harrison Wright in season four of the hit political drama Scandal. Since then, he seems to have been focused on rebuilding his career through standup comedy, indepdendent film and music. "Started from the bottom and now we here, still at the bottom," Short joked with paparazzi outside of a comedy club recently.
Neither the actor nor his reps have been available for comment regarding his most recent arrest.
