Writer's Guild Award Nominees Announced; Scandal Shut Out
The Writer's Guild of America announced the nominees for the 2014 WGA Awards, celebrating the best writing on television. This year, cable dramas dominated the categories, with network shows being largely shut out.
One notable shun was Scandal, which, despite better-than-ever ratings, failed to earn a single nomination. The Shonda Rhimes-created show also ended up empty-handed at the Emmys, where lead actress Kerry Washington lost out on a potentially historic Best Actress win.
Orange Is the New Black, Netflix's groundbreaking and diverse dramedy, led the pack with nominations in three categories, including Best Comedy Series and Best New Series.
