Box Office: G.I. Joe , Tyler Perry's Temptation Are Hot
Audiences are still red-hot for Tyler Perry. The director scored another hit with his adult-oriented drama-thriller Tyler Perry's Temptation, which opened to $22.3 million and third place at the box office. The film was beat out by tent pole action film G.I. Joe: Retaliation and last week's winner, family-friendly The Croods.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis, was the top earner over the weekend. The film scored a whopping $51.7 million in the U.S. and another $80.3 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $132 million.
Rounding out the top five are Olympus Has Fallen, starring the swirl-loving Gerard Butler and Angela Bassett, and Oz the Great and Powerful.
Next week, a special effects-heavy remake of 1981 cult classic Evil Dead screeches into theaters.
