Dwyane Wade Wins Custody of His Sons

A happy ending for the NBA star.

Dwyane Wade is celebrating an important court victory: After all kinds of drama with his ex-wife, the Miami Heat player won full custody of his two sons over the weekend.

“I am very thankful that the court has given me custody of my boys and they are already at home with me in Miami," he said in a statement. "Going through a custody trial was difficult and I wish it hadn’t been necessary, but I felt it was the only way that I could continue to play an active part of my kids’ lives and provide them with a happy and stable home."

The ruling closed the book on a bitter custody battle between Wade and his ex-wife Siovaughn, who previously accused Dwayne of giving her an STD and being physically abusive. She even came after his girlfriend Gabrielle Union in court, saying that the actress caused her sons psychological damage by engaging in “sexual foreplay” with Dwayne while they were around.

But the judge wasn’t feeling Siovaughn’s antics, stating that the scorned ex-wife “has embarked on an unstoppable and relentless pattern of conduct for over two years to alienate the children from their father, and lacks either the ability or the willingness to facilitate, let alone encourage, a close and continuing relationship between them."

Despite the drama, Dwyane’s not shutting out his boy’s mother from their lives. “My hope is that their mother will also choose to play a healthy role in their lives and we can all move on from this in a positive way,” he said.

Gabrielle Union recently squashed rumors that her and Dwayne were expecting a child, but it looks like they’ll have their hands full either way.
