Ice Cube Clarifies That He Has Not Endorsed Trump Or Biden

Yesterday the West Coast rap icon found himself facing criticism after it was revealed that he worked with the Trump administration.

Ice Cube has taken to social media to address his political stance and take on the critics. Yesterday, the West Coast rap icon found himself facing criticism after it was announced that he is working with the Trump administration to help develop the Platinum Plan.

  • The optics of the unveiling was questioned by many with less than 20 days before the 2020 presidential election on November 3. Returning to Twitter on Thursday morning (October 15), Cube clarified that his cooperation with the Trump administration is not an endorsement of Donald Trump or Joe Biden.

  • On Wednesday (October 14), fans of Ice Cube were shocked after Katrina Pierson, a senior advisor on Trump’s reelection campaign, gave a “shoutout to [Ice Cube] for his willingness to step up and work with [Trump] Administration to help develop the [Platinum Plan].”

The Platinum Plan is a proposal by Trump’s reelection campaign to increase access to capital by almost $500 billion, create 3 million new jobs, provide more affordable healthcare, and make Juneteenth a national holiday among other initiatives meant to economically empower the Black Americans if he is reelected.

  • Ice Cube took to Twitter where he clarified his involvement with the Trump Administration. He explained that he connected with both the Democratic and Republican party about his Contract for Black America, a plan designed to address systemic issues that affect the Black community.

“Facts: I put out the CWBA. Both parties contacted me. Dems said we’ll address the CWBA after the election, Ice Cube tweeted. “The Trump campaign made some adjustments to their plan after talking to us about the CWBA.”

For many, however, it was not enough of a justification for his involvement with the Trump administration, with people saying the rapper had turned to “the Darkside.” In response to the criticism, Cube issued “every side is the Darkside for us here in America.”

  • “They’re all the same until something changes for us,” he wrote. “They all lie and they all cheat but we can’t afford not to negotiate with whoever is in power or our condition in this country will never change. Our justice is bipartisan.”

Cube continued, “Black progress is a bipartisan issue. When we created the Contract With Black America we expected to talk to both sides of the isle. Talking truth to power is part of the process.”

In a separate tweet, he added, “I will advise anybody on the planet who has the power to help Black Americans close the enormous wealth gap.”
