Mariah Carey Teases Big Surprise For 30th Anniversary Of MC30

After three decades in the music business, she still has our attention.

It looks like Mariah Carey has another surprise up her sleeves for her millions of fans!

To everyone’s surprise, the Grammy-winning singer and songwriter took to social media on Tuesday (July 14) where she unveiled that she has something special in store to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her self-titled, debut album.

  • The legendary singer posted a 29-second montage teasing the surprise, captioning it, “MC30...Every Friday.” The snippet includes brief snapshots of Mimi’s music video clips, live performances, album artwork and more from over the years, backtracked by the opening of her 1995 classic remix of “Fantasy” with the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

  • Released in June 1990, Mariah Carey’s self-titled debut is one of her most critically successful releases. Four of the album’s tracks became No.1 hits on Billboard’s Hot 100: “Vision of Love,” “Love Takes Time,” “Someday,” and “I Don’t Wanna Cry.” The album went on to spend 11 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 album chart and was certified nine-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), according to Billboard.

Thus far, she hasn’t shared any other details as to what the special surprise will entail. This teaser comes after Carey surprised her fans in May announcing that her soundtrack album for the cult classic film, Glitter, is now on streaming platforms nearly two decades after it was first released.

  • In July, she revealed that this September she’ll drop her first-ever memoir, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, detailing her life experiences. The forthcoming book will offer an “unfiltered” glimpse into her life.

“Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing,” Carey said of her book on Instagram. “My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding. Not only about me but also about the resilience of the human spirit.”

This past year has been a big one for Mimi, who became the first artist to have No. 1 records in four different decades after “All I Want For Christmas” surged up the charts followed by her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

We can’t wait to see what she has planned. Check out the teaser for the 30th anniversary of her debut album below:
